Gates

A gate is the portal that decides how we enter the very personal spaces that are our homes. The doorway that opens into our sanctuary garden, or the moment we step off the street and can shut the world out behind us. Each gate is designed with this in mind, and are often very personal objects that are approached more like pieces of sculpture than functional objects. A sense of metaphysical purpose and narrative is worked into the forging, so that each time you open and pass through that portal, your intimate connection to the space beyond is re-enforced by this simple interaction, this moment of pause and reflection, that opening and closing a gate enacts.
